The Lancaster and Fairfield County Amateur Radio Club (K8QIK) New Year’s Eve NET

Since the Hillsboro 147.21 repeater first went on the air around 40 years ago a New Year’s Eve Net has occurred.  This year the traditional Net will take place at the stroke of Midnight on the Hillsboro and Greenfield repeaters-147.21 (100 pl and 118.8 pl).  Anyone, anywhere is welcome to kick off the New Year with a check in.

John Willis assures us the bell at the Historical Museum will be used to ring 2023 in and start the Net.  W8KIW and N8ZNR will be at the Museum to broadcast it.  Once the bell stops ringing, the Net will start.  When it starts, just dump in your call sign.  All stations participating are asked to spread your calls out and wait until your check in is acknowledged before leaving the frequency.

This is not a formal net and there will be no recall to interfere with your personal partying and celebrations.  However following the Net’s conclusion several folks often stick around for a round table until the wee hours of the New Year.

We hope someone will step forward to serve as a net control to log the check ins and acknowledge those stations heard.  Anyone able to record the event is asked to do so. Those unable to check in, but hearing the net are asked to email highlandara@gmail.com or text to 937-760-6070.

Last year about 30 stations participated.  It would be nice to have that many this year plus hear some calls we haven’t heard for a while as well as new ones.
